Well I decided against the sending of my Omega instead I sent in a very special watch, a Longines Ultra Chron with a 431 movement. What is special you wonder....apart from a beautiful understated appearance (like lots of watches of the time) it was a very well engineered hi beat design. Most mechanical watches have a beat of around 18,000 this beauty has a beat of 36,000. The "tick" is very fast and the seconds sweep is almost seamless.
It is away at present and so far early signs are that it is repairable. The worry with such things of this age are parts availability.
